18 NZ-made games; 80,000+ attendees at PAX AUS 2024

NZ CODE headed up another huge contingent of Kiwis for our Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) 2024 campaign, culminating in our second largest organised overseas presence for NZ developers ever at PAX AUS.

Overall, the CODE cohort had around 50 members make their way across the Tasman to MIGW for Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP), and supported 18 studios to exhibit their games at PAX AUS, including four Māori and Pasifika led teams.

We had an absolute blast for three days with over 80,000 game consumers, numerous media outlets, content creators, streamers, console platform account managers and publishers.

From the tasty Burger Bois food truck simulator, to the ultimate tornado chasing action-adventure, Project Storm, we had games from a plethora of genres. There was the paranormal-mystery narrative puzzle game CORPOREAL, the visual excellence of Red Echo's Martian planet, and much, much more!

Steam Wishlists spiked amongst our participants and a lot of new players had a great time. Many game consumers of PAX AUS 2023 eagerly returned to the CODE booth for a second year to get their dose of Aotearoa's best indie games.

The studios saw an absolute swag of media attention at the end of it, and CODE are now helping teams with commercial follow ups and business opportunities in the aftermath.

Another incredibly successful campaign - thanks, teams!

CODE's booth at PAX AUS 2024 was only enabled by the generous support of our funders Kānoa (Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

A special thanks to New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE) for your ongoing support, and the Australia Pacific Events Team for hosting the New Zealand Game Dev Networking Breakfast, celebrating the creativity of Aotearoa's incredible gaming sector.
